【摘要】:Itisessentialthatenginecoolantspreventheat-transfercorrosionofaluminumcylinderheadsduringengineoperation.Anycorrosionproductsformedmaydepositoninteriorradiatorsurfaces,reducingheat-transferefficiencyoftheradiator.Overheatingandboil-overofthecoolingsystemmaythenoccur.Thistestmethodprovidesameansforselectivelyscreeningunusedenginecoolantsandwillreadilydistinguishthosecoolantsthatareunsuitableforusewithaluminumcylinderheadengines.However,satisfactoryperformanceofacoolantinthistestmethoddoesnotensureadequatelong-termserviceperformance.Additional,morecomprehensiveevaluationswithsimulatedservice,dynamometer,andvehicletestsshouldbeusedtoestablishthelong-termeffectivenessofthecoolant.1.1Thistestmethodcoversalaboratoryscreeningprocedureforevaluatingtheeffectivenessofenginecoolantsincombatingcorrosionofaluminumcastingalloysunderheat-transferconditionsthatmaybepresentinaluminumcylinderheadengines.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninSections11and12.
